Students can train on Membean during their summer break, and there are many reasons to do so. This article will explain the benefits of training over the summer.
Why train over the summer?
Students need time over their breaks to recharge their batteries, but summer break is a significant source of student learning loss. Studies show that students who engage less frequently in academic tasks over the summer begin the school year behind peers who engage more frequently in learning activities.
Training on Membean doesn't require a huge time commitment, and it has several significant benefits. With less than an hour of training per week, students can do the following:
- Overcome learning loss due to summer breaks
- Keep words current in memory
- Continue to learn new words
- Shorten the period of review that happens at the start of the school year
- Prepare for the SAT, ACT, and AP Tests
- Become a stronger reader and writer
How students can train over the summer
Students' Membean accounts stay active over the summer, so they can just sign in to Membean like they normally do. It's best to train consistently. We recommend training three times per week for 15 minutes at a time. However, some training is better than nothing, so students shouldn't hesitate to train, even if it's only once in while.
To encourage students to train, we recommend providing the attached flyer to students and their families.
