Overview

When your district or school chooses to roster, classes are created and students are enrolled automatically. This can save you time, but you lose some functionality like updating class names and transferring students. 

Our rostering system is currently in beta and will continue to evolve throughout the school year. For most schools, we recommend using our established class creation and student enrollment workflows until the new rostering experience is finalized.

What happens when my classes are rostered? 

Rostering takes class creation and enrollment out of your hands. We automatically create classes and enroll students based on the information we get from Clever or ClassLink. 

After rostering is complete, you will see all of your classes with your enrolled students on your dashboard. Each rostered class is automatically created with default settings. If the default settings meet your needs, no action is required.

  • Training Cycle: 7-day cycle starting at 12:00 AM every Monday.
  • Training Expectations: 3 days with at least 15 minutes of training for a total of 45 minutes. 
  • Extra Help: Off 

If you choose to, you can update these settings once your classes are rostered by editing your classes. 

Changes to your classes or to the students enrolled in them must be made through your school or district's Student Information System (SIS). Updates to your classes will happen within about 24 hours of the changes made to the SIS. If you don't see the changes after 24 hours, connect with support@membean.com. 

What changes when my classes are rostered? 

Because Clever or ClassLink is now the source of truth for classes and enrollments, you'll notice a few changes to your dashboard. 

You will no longer be able to do the following, so you'll need to reach out to your SIS manager to make changes:

  • Create new classes
  • Edit class names
  • Edit class grade levels 
  • Assign colors to classes
  • Delete classes
  • Enroll new students
  • Transfer or drop students 
  • Invite teachers to Membean 
  • Add co-teachers to a class in which they are not co-teachers in Clever or ClassLink
