Overview

The Assessment Expiry Window is how long students have to complete a quiz. Once that time is up, any quizzes that haven't been started will expire. Any active quizzes will be auto-submitted, even if they are not complete. By default, assessments stay live for two days from the time they are issued, but you can adjust this time from your preferences or set different expiry windows for individual quizzes. This article will show you how to adjust your expiry window.

Changing your default Assessment Expiry Window will not affect any past or live quizzes; you must make the adjustment before an assessment is created. Scheduled assessments can be adjusted up until the time they go live for students.  

Setting Your Default Expiry Window

Step 1: Click your name, and then click Profile. 

Step 2: Click the Preferences tab. 

Step 3: Scroll down to find the options for how long assessments should be active for, and select your preferred time from the drop-down. Once you've made your selection, be sure to click Save Changes. 

All future quizzes will remain live for this amount of time.

Updating the Expiry Window for a Single Quiz

You can always adjust the expiry window for a particular quiz when you are creating it. Simply adjust the Valid For field. Doing so here will only affect that particular quiz; it will not change your default time for other quizzes.
